Bring Your Own Boat
The resort has its own private dock — if you have a boat, bring it. Tow it up on a trailer, launch from the ramp, and tie up right at the resort. Desolation Sound is waiting at your doorstep, on your terms and your schedule.
The dock and deck area are also a favourite spot for guests to fish from, watch the sunset glow settle over the inlet, or simply sit and take in the quiet.

Fishing
Desolation Sound is legendary among BC anglers. Cast for salmon, lingcod, rockfish, and halibut directly from our private beach or venture further by boat.

Shellfish Harvesting
A 10-minute walk from the resort, Okeover Provincial Park lets you pick fresh oysters and dig for clams right at the water's edge during low tide. Harvest your own dinner straight from the inlet — one of the most rewarding wild-food experiences on the BC coast.
Good to Know
- BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence required
- Check DFO website for current daily harvest limits
- Always check red tide (PSP) closures before harvesting.
- Red tide toxins are invisible and can be fatal — never skip the closure check, even if the water looks clear
- Cook shellfish to 90°C internal temperature for at least 90 seconds to prevent norovirus




Canoeing & Kayaking
Paddle through mirror-calm inlets, explore hidden coves, and navigate the sheltered waters of Okeover Arm. The resort is the perfect base for multi-day paddling expeditions.

Hiking & Biking & Exploring
Explore the Sunshine Coast Trail — 180km of wilderness from Saltery Bay to Sarah Point. Trails range from easy forest walks to challenging mountain routes with breathtaking ocean views.

Wildlife Watching
The waters and forests around the resort teem with wildlife. Bald eagles nest in the trees above the chalets. Orcas and humpback whales pass through the surrounding waters of Desolation Sound.

Savary Island
Savary Island — the 'Hawaii of the North' — offers white sandy beaches, warm turquoise waters, and a blissfully off-grid charm. Just 15 minutes by water taxi from Lund.

- Bring a picnic — no restaurants on the island
- Best beach: south side of the island

Diving & Snorkelling
Desolation Sound offers some of the best cold-water diving in the world. Giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, lingcod, and colourful nudibranchs inhabit the kelp forests.
