The Sunshine Coast is the beautiful shoreline stretching from just north of Vancouver to Lund. It includes the picturesque towns of Gibsons, Sechelt, Pender Harbour and Garden Bay. Some areas are very remote, rugged and wild, whereas others offer luxury getaways. Desolation Sound Resort, with its oceanfront chalets, is on the upper end of the Sunshine Coast.  The Powell River area is a vast adventure land for ecotours, and it was named the cultural capital of Canada. Among its many other attractions, the Sunshine Coast features over 300km of hiking trails built by volunteers, including the Sunshine Coast Trail, complete with cabins and access points along the route.
